Dr. Pramod Gopinath is the immediate past Director of International School of Photonics. He joined the School as a Professor in March 2016 and was a faculty member at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Valiamala, Thiruvananthapuram, from 2007 to 2016. He has an M.Sc. in Physics – Materials Science from Mahatma Gandhi University and was awarded Ph.D. degree under the Faculty of Technology, Cochin University of Science and Technology. He was a Visiting Professor at University of Gothenburg, Sweden. His areas of interest are Emission Spectroscopy of Laser Produced Plasma, Nonlinear Optics, Nanophotonics and Magnetoplasmonics. He has successfully supervised/co-supervised 6 research students for their Ph.D. degree and is currently supervising 8 students for their Ph.D. degree and has mentored 2 Post Doctoral Fellows and 1 Scientist under DST-WOS(A) Scheme. He has 45 publications in reputed international journals and more than 90 in conferences/symposia. He is the member of the Editorial Board of Frontiers as a Review Editor for Frontiers in Chemistry – Nanoscience and Frontiers in Photonics – Nonlinear Optics.

He is a Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), UK and Kerala Academy of Sciences (FAS). He is a Senior Member of IEEE, Chair of IEEE Photonics Society Kerala Section Chapter, Executive Council member of Kerala Academy of Sciences, Life Fellow of Optical Society of India, member of Optica (Formerly Optical Society of America) and a Life Member of  Indian Physics Association, Indian Laser Association, Plasma Science Society of India, Indian Science Congress Association and Photonics Society of India.
